Here is the Pacific when we bought it. A bit tired. But on the whole, the truck is is good shape and the cab won’t be taken down.
The engine needed a big serviving.
New tanks had to be built.
The cab is sanded, primed and painted.
For the rear part: cleaning and sanding of the gantry. Exhaust gets a new coat of paint.
The truck finished, with marking in place.
For its first outing, we tought it was necessary to rewind the winch correctly. “Problem” is: the winch can’t be disengage, we have to use the engine to unwind the cable, with the transfer case in neutral and one gear engaged.
After its first outing, a big servicing was needed: oil change for the engine, the axles, the gearbox, the tranfer case, greasing of the bearings and cleaning of the chains.
Following a mecanical problem during Retromobile 2009, the air compressor (for the brakes) had to be repaired.
Another problem about brakes comes from one of the tripod of the secondary shaft that. A key wore down the tripod resulting in the tripod not to rotate and thus not rotating the compressor. A stronger new tripod was built.
Spark plugs also needed change. Dual ignition on the Pacific means 12 spark plugs to change!
Leads also needed change! They were rebuitl.
