Commemoration of the victory, 8th May 1945, in Loges-en-Josas and Vélizy (2019)

For the commemoration of the victory on the 8th May 1945, UNIVEM prepared a convoy composed of Jeep, Half-Track M5, GMC DUKW, GMC tipper, International M-2-4, International M426, and Ward-La-France which went Les-Loges-en-Josas in the morning. Vehicles were displayed around the war memorial, place Louis Grenier. The warming coffee offered by the ASPEH (a local association about the history of the town) was welcomed by the participants as the trip was under a light rain.

The light rain then became a storm, but several visitors came to see the vehicles, climb inside and ask every possible question to the member of UNIVEM. At noon, the ceremony took place in the presence of veterans.

Then, thanks to vehicles of UNIVEM, participants were carried to the roundabout Garenne for the official inauguration of a borne of the Liberty Road.

In the afternoon, the convoy take the route that took the French 2nd Armored Division in 1944 to reach Vélizy-Villacoublay for the inauguration of another borne of the Liberty Road. The vehicles of UNIVEM were displayed around the borne and made an impression on the public. Rides were organised in some vehicules, for the delight of the public (well, for the bravest of them, as the rain was still there!).
