January 14, 2005, has been a milestone in the history of our association : we were inaugurating our new premises in Versailles-Satory. Extensive real estate business in our previous location led to UNIVEM being forced to move from Issy-les-Moulineaux.
There, many who had never pushed our door knew us though : we were on the Seine wharf, along a very busy road, plus we had a Sherman tank parked on the sidewalk, a sign no one could miss !
The second half of 2004 was used to transfer all the collections and vehicles whilst working hard to renovate the garage (4 large halls side by side and connected together).
Even if we were extremely lucky to be able to obtain these premises, we were arriving in empty halls with no light, no electricity at all, no doors and some walls fallen on the ground. We all worked hard to renovate and to do the electrical installation (according to the mandatory standards). For the club house we could get used ALGECO construction site huts in good shape that, bolted together, gave us a very comfortable place to meet and to install the administration office for our association.
